THOROUGHLY DESPERATELY   l   5.8.Fri 6PM – 5.10.Sun 6PM

With the movement of a single dancer, a silent ‘Boléro’ begins. The stage, with the dancers and the ten musicians who played in the darkness on both sides, facing the center as if confronting each other, was filled with ‘Boléro’. The first term in this title, ‘Thoroughly’ refers to thorough movement with unfailing precision, while ‘Desperately’ expresses the will to delivere through dance the desperate instinct to survive. With this work, choreographer Kim Boram approaches ‘the origin of expression’ that human beings share. To this end, he avoids a typical interpretation of existing music and rather dismantles and reassembles the distinct melody and rhythm of ‘Boléro’. Arranger Park Yongbin reinterprets Ravel ‘Boléro’ with a small ensemble, fully exploring the possibilities of musical tone unique to this new arrangement. Choreographer Kim translated the musical composition of ‘Boléro’ into new movements.
